From our team...

"The people and the work make this place. I worked in Outpatient and Assessment and was there for a number of years. WCC is such a special place doing amazing work and making an impact in lives of youth/families. The work is meaningful and challenging at every turn. Plenty of training opportunities and also opportunities to move up and develop professional skills through diversification of your role--the place is always expanding it seems."

ORIENTATION

WestCoast Children’s Clinic believes in the values of team-based learning and has an intensive orientation program that is dedicated to meeting those needs according to each new hire’s role. Training covers topics such as trauma foundations, commercial sexual exploitation of children, delivering community-based care to engage and create relationships with youth, and assessment and harm reduction strategies. Our orientation sequence is renowned in the field, with many new hires seeking us out for our comprehensive introduction to trauma-informed care and community-based services with youth and families.

EQUITY AND INCLUSION

WCC is passionate about leading and encouraging open conversations about race, gender, power, and privilege and how these impact our clients, ourselves and our workplace. Our Equity and Inclusion Council is committed to creating an inclusive culture that challenges power, privilege, and systemic oppression and respects the dignity and diversity of all people. Under our Equity and Inclusion Council, our staff affinity groups include BIPOC Staff Council, LGBTQ+ Staff Group, and White Accountability Group.

These groups increase awareness, provide resources, create community spaces, and serve as a channel for the voices of staff from all backgrounds to be heard throughout WCC.
