INTERNSHIPS

We’re committed to preparing the next generation of community mental health providers through our robust training and internship opportunities. 

DOCTORAL INTERNSHIP

The Doctoral Internship Program in Clinical Psychology focuses on learning core skills for child and adolescent psychotherapy, family therapy, and psychological assessment. Interns begin to learn skills to work in the community as well, moving beyond the walls of traditional outpatient settings into places such as family homes, schools, and residential facilities.

 

WestCoast’s Doctoral Internship Program in Clinical Psychology is accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) and holds membership in the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC).

GRADUATE MSW INTERNSHIP

This 9 month Internship is intended for graduate level students pursuing a Masters in Social Work degree. Students attending San Francisco State University, Cal State University East Bay, or University of California, Berkeley are eligible to apply for first and second year practicum placements. First year students have the opportunity to work within our STAT program, while second year students have the opportunity to work in our C-Change or EMPOWR programs.

 

The internship program provides students a unique and supportive practicum experience. When a new cohort arrives, we provide opportunities to build relationships with fellow students. Interns will also undergo weekly individual supervision, weekly case consultation groups, comprehensive onboarding and ongoing training. Training includes but is not limited to: trauma foundations; diversity, equity and inclusion; motivational interviewing; play therapy; child development; suicide assessment; crisis assessment; child welfare systems; SOGIE; vicarious trauma; self-care; and stress management.
